Project Overview
Cheese Caves — Subscription Commerce Concept Build
Cheese Caves is an internal H Product Studio concept build — a design and architecture exercise, not client work. The brand and every screen shown here are fictional.
The question behind it: how should a premium web platform be structured when a curated artisan-cheese business wants both recurring subscription boxes and a regular shop for one-off orders?
Answering that means making two very different buying journeys live inside one brand: subscription commerce and classic e-commerce. The build works through plan selection, catalog, educational content, the customer account, and a premium editorial presentation as one connected architecture.

Framing the Problem
Most food-commerce products fall apart at exactly this seam: subscriptions, regular shopping, and content get built as three separate things. The concept treats that tension as the core design problem.
Two parallel buying models
Recurring plans and one-off purchases needed to coexist on the same site without splitting the customer journey into two competing stores.
Rich product education
People buy premium cheese on origin, tasting notes, and pairing knowledge — not photos and prices — so editorial depth had to be a first-class product surface.
Premium brand expectations
The experience had to feel curated and gift-worthy while still carrying the unglamorous operational flows: checkout, order history, tracking, wishlists.
Conceptual Approach
The build frames Cheese Caves as one premium commerce product with three coordinated layers — subscriptions, shop, and editorial content — instead of three stitched-together tools.
Dual-commerce architecture
Plans and shop purchases run as separate transactional paths, each with its own entry point, checkout logic, and confirmation — coordinated, not merged.
Editorial product experience
Storytelling, product education, and curated content carry the price point and give customers a reason to return between purchases.
Account-centered continuity
Orders, subscriptions, tracking, and wishlists live in one continuous account relationship instead of scattered utility screens.

Platform Concept & Architecture
The module map separates commerce from content while keeping them mutually reinforcing — commerce converts, content brings people back and feeds discovery.

Subscription Flow
Three plan tiers form the pricing ladder, with the full journey — plan choice, comparison, checkout, recurring confirmation — sketched around a Stripe-style billing model.
One-Time Shop
A parallel storefront covers customers who aren't ready to subscribe: browse the catalog, buy once, and get a natural upgrade path into a plan later.
Cheese Knowledge Layer
The encyclopedia and pairing content double as an organic-search surface and a conversion aid — the platform stays useful even when nobody is buying.
Retention and Gifting
Account continuity and gifting turn a transactional store into something closer to a membership: history, wishlists, gift plans, cheese of the month.
Content Layer (Editorial Concept)
The goal was for Cheese Caves to read like a premium editorial publication about taste — not a transactional food catalog. Producer and origin references below are illustrative editorial examples; no partnerships are claimed.

Reference-Build Notes
The finished concept reads as a subscription-first premium commerce product, not a generic gourmet shop with a plans page bolted on.
It demonstrates how recurring-revenue logic, one-time shopping, content authority, and a polished account layer can share one structured platform — as an architecture exercise, with no delivered outcomes, metrics, or live operations claimed.
Stripe and Supabase appear as intended integration points only; nothing is implemented in production. Producer and partner names in the visuals are illustrative editorial references, not real partnerships.
Concept-build note: this page documents an internal H Product Studio study. It is not a launched product or client engagement, and no operational, certification, audit, food-safety, or compliance claims are made or implied.
